Monday 4 November marked the official launch of work on the future Athletes’ Village, in the presence of the French Prime Minster, members of government and regional and local elected officials.

The Prime Minister Mr Édouard Philippe, along with Mrs Roxana Maracineanu, Minister of Sports, Mr Julien Denormandie, Minister Responsible for the City and Housing, Mrs Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State for persons with disabilities, Mrs Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris and Chair of SOLIDEO’s board of directors, Mr Vincent Roger, Special Delegate of the Île-de-France Region in charge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mr Patrick Braouezec, President of the territorial public establishment Plaine Commune, Mr William Delannoy, Mayor of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, Mr Laurent Russier, Mayor of Saint-Denis, Mr Mohamed Gnabaly, Mayor of L’Ile-Saint-Denis, Mr Nicolas Ferrand, CEO of SOLIDEO, Mr Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 and Mr Denis Masseglia, President of CNOSF, who symbolically dug the first sod to launch the preparatory work phase in the Athletes’ Village, a major venue and infrastructure for the 2024 Games.

 

The construction and development work will start during the first quarter of 2021, and relates to the public areas, buildings and facilities in the Athletes’ Village.
