Since 2009, Plaine Commune and the city of Île-Saint-Denis have been developing a mixed use neighbourhood with strong environmental ambitions: the riverside eco-district.
The objectives areto restore a sense of belonging on the island, to open it up to the riverbanks, to support its economic development and to offer a new range of housing.
For the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the buildings constructed within the riverside eco-district of L’Ile-Saint-Denis will form part of the Athletes’ Village and will provide accommodation for athletes and their accompanying staff. The facilities will be built, in a temporary and reversible manner, for this purpose in a so-called « OPG » configuration.
At the end of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the eco-district will include :
- 320 family housing (including 90 social housing units and 20 social home ownership units),
- 1 student residence with 130 rooms,
- 1 urban park of 2 hectares,
- 2 office buildings,
- 1 hotel with 115 rooms,
- 1,850 m² of shops,

- 1 Arts City of 1,500m².
